The keyboard is the mechanical part of an instrument made of black and white keys, like on a piano, an harpsichord, a clavichord, an organ, an accordion or a synthesizer.

• By extension , a keyboard can be synonymous of any musical instrument or controller with a keyboard. A synthesizer, a workstation are frequently called "keyboards".
