Sampler

A sampler is a mean to record an audio source and convert it into a file in order to play it from a keyboard, a MIDI controller or a sequencer. Samplers were at first keyboards or expanders and are now mostly available in software.
A sampler uses samples which are digital audio files. You can find samples for you sampler in libraries either on the internet or on commercial CDs.
A sample player cannot sample, but only replay samples coming from another source.
